ODAT 10-21

ODA T reading for October 21 speaks  about one of Al-Anon's most important principles which are :" Don't take anybody's inventory but our own.

It suggests that the more we practice this philosophy, we will gradually come to understand that by focusing on ourselves, rather than others, we will  finally realize that we have much inventorying of our own to do.  We can there work on ourselves and develop constructive tools to live by.

I love the reminder that says, "do I  criticize others? I will learn to live and let live
Am I fearful of the future? I will "let go and let God". ..
Do I aggravate family problems with temper tantrums? then I will remind myself to "think", and put" first things first "

I find the slogans a great help in taking a searching fearless moral inventory of myself.

The slogans have helped me in every aspect of this program  They reinforce the basic principles  of the program  give me the  actual tools to implement a change and are so easy to remember .

Good stuff Betty!  I too love the Slogans.

I was reflecting on Step 10 last night:  We continue to take personal inventory and when we're wrong promptly admit it.

It does not say:  Continue to take the inventory of others and when they're wrong promptly tell them.

I was laughing to myself.  biggrin

What a great share - and Mike.....you made me LOL!

The Slogans have carried me often, very often. I always think my HP is working in my life when I am faced with uncertainty and one of them pops into my head....

I know that my days go so much better when I stay focused on me......what I need to do, what I want to do and what I am doing to grow/improve/assist...

Before the program, I could take someone else's inventory easily enough. But, I learned here that was a huge waist of my time/energy and certainly not my issue/job. My job is to stay program-centered, HP-centered and not rock the boat by staying in the middle!

Thanks Betty for the daily!
