The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
The ODA T reading for October 16 speaks about Al-Anon being a fellowship of equals.
When we determine to attend meetings with an open mind we soon discover that the person that we may see as less recovered, may surprises us and say something with great spiritual insight so that the statement reaches into the hearts of each of us to give light, comfort and hope.
It is an important step to learn to stop judging or critiquing each other so that our EGO's are replaced with humility . Eliminating comparing, and competing, treating each other with understanding and courtesy ,we will learn humility and, accept the good that we find in the fellowship.
Alanon meetings invite each of us to help ourselves by learning new tools to handle our problems as well as to overcome our own shortcomings. In addition, in the process we learn to help others find sanity, and serenity by simply sharing our own ESH form the heart.
The quote; "Who am , I to judge God's children by their manner of speaking.or by. what they wear? I will listen to the help they can give me.
I love that Al-Anon is a fellowship of equals. Leaving , our titles, our professions, opinions and her accomplishments outside the door we are then enabled to find humility and discover who we are as we let go of what we are.
Thank you Betty for the lovely daily and the ESH! I am so grateful for this simple yet powerful principal - it gave me the freedom to show up 'as is' or 'less than perfect'....
I once told my sponsor I could not go as I had been painting and had paint on me/hair/etc. She calmly suggested that nobody cares about my hair or what I wear - but only that I am there.
I am so grateful that we are equals when we walk in the door. For me, it takes away the fear of sounding foolish and/or looking foolish. I am grateful that I found a great local group that has kind and loving members who accept everyone with open arms.
(((Hugs))) to you and all here @ our MIP family! Happy Friday and hopes for all to have a great weekend!

Thank you Betty as well for todays reading and ESH. I do love the fact that Al-anon is a spiritual program of recovery with courtesy and equality as it's cornerstones. Sets an example for all participants who belong to the program that, to flourish we members must maintain and afford each other those same requisites to the program. Just love what Al-anon stands for.

My grandfather was the founder and president of a local Jr. College-- he did a lot of Networking when there was not a word for it.
His idea was similar to today's reading "you can learn from everyone" He valued the custodian, his secretary, and the students and his board members all the same... he was truly wise.
There is no one left in my family with these values my prayer is to become more like this and carry on as much of todays reading and these ideals as possible. I'm not there yet!
