Thought for Today ~ LIVING IT ~ 10/13/15

The way I speak often reveals more than what I say.

To make the program work for me, it is important to

be LIVING IT. This will reveal itself in everything I do

and say."By listening to more than mere words, I can

learn much more than mere words can teach."

We can talk as much as we need to but sooner or later

we have to walk the talk!  smile

Have a great day ...  {{HUGS}}

Hi Debb-I love alanon's no nonsense principles. It is easy to identify those in meetings who are merely " Talking the talk"-Walking the walk is difficult narrow road, with progress not perfection as the goal.

It is lovely to be human and learning new constructive ways to be. Thanks for the topic.

Is this like actions speak louder than words? I am trying to remember what someone here used to say before he passed to remain calm and don't react. And reading alanon literature and getting them sober. Also to get off my qualifiers back seems to be helping him.... He keeps asking if I love him and I say "yes I love you" as lightly and happily as I can. detaching with love.... I'm trying

Great thread for today Debb - thank you for it and your service and your ESH!

I too had the 'actions speak louder than words' pop into the front of my brain. I used to react with words and actions often and have worked on that. It's taken a lot of work but when I change how I am/act/react, the outcomes are so so different. Living it for me means doing differently with grace and hope for the best possible outcome.

Living it for me means being of maximum service to myself and others. This can be as simple as a smile and waive to a neighbor or more such as reaching out to a friend who is struggling. Everybody has something in their lives and we never know what another is going through unless we show we care.

Have a great day all!!
