Daughter is Moving Out Today

My 37 year old daughter, who is bi-polar, is moving out of our home

today and the movers are finishing up tomorrow morning with her

heavier pieces of furniture.  She got a very nice, one bedroom, just

five minutes down the road and she can actually have a cat there

as well.  Been a long road with her and my AH, but thanks  to MIP

and Al-anon, I can honestly say phewwwww.  She doesn't want

any help, but she is accepting my AH's help with the four truck

loads and his help assembling bookshelves and her breakfast nook.

Doesn't want me to help with unpacking or arranging anything in

her new home, and I do understand, this is here first real place on

her own.  I feel relieved that through all the upheaval and

hospitalizations, that it was worth seeing her through all the

difficulties.  She is on a cocktail of drugs to control the highs and

lows and she holds a good bookkeeping job, so she can afford to

live on her own now.  Wow  ... I finally have my bathroom back!! smile

Winner Debb...Winner.   Gratitude and happy dances for you.  I love  my privacy and freedoms and though most of the time I can share I like to share on my terms most of the time.  Good for her reaching he same benefits.   Keep coming back ((((hugs)))) smile

My friend Debb - I applaud your courage to allow her to 'do her thing'.....Kudos to her for getting to a stable place and holding a job and venturing out on her own!

This all sounds like such a great change for both! Yay for maturing, balancing, loving and independence!

I've been playing ball for 1/2 the day and then off to a family wedding.....grateful to be home - the party continues, but I did 'my time'. I love my family dearly but am super grateful to have this one to 'come home to'.

Many (((Hugs))) for you and your daughter - may her first place be all that she wants it to be!

Hang in there mom - seeing them go is a relief (privacy) but I always had a bit of sadness too.....change at times can be hard for me! So grateful this program reminds me to stay grounded in this day - not the past nor the future...

Debb, I love your posts and sometimes forget that you are dealing with the same stuff the rest of us are but you are doing it with such grace and understanding and strength that I am in awe. Your post is giving me strength right now as we await the arrival of our son, his partner and the baby. They will be staying with us while he seeks a job and gets re-established in this country. And I know it is going to be not so easy for any of us. Reading your post I can see that other people were in the same position and they came through it and so will we.

And the bathroom thing! I can so understand that. Right now we have two bathrooms and two people. Soon there will be five!

I am trying hard to live in the day and not project what 'might' happen. Today is our Canadian Thanksgiving and we DO have lots to be thankful for and we need to stress our gratefulness. Thanks for the strength and understanding you contribute every day on this board.

IAH thank you so much, you are right, there was a bit of a lump in my throat, but after I saw

her apartment, it is absolutely adorable and safe, I was so happy and relieved for her, my Ah

and myself!!  smile

Deacon I am so glad you were helped by my ESH, that is what we are all here for to help

each other.   I was a challenge, with my daughter, but my AH and I looked at each other

this afternoon, after all her things were moved out and we nodded to each other that we

did right by her.   {{HUGS}}
