Learning to take care of me!

I have become more aware of myself lately, which is good,my daughter and I are animal lovers and we have several already,we recently came upon a stray kitten and tried to save him.He was tiny, had been abandoned and almost hit by a car.I don't even think he should have been taken from his mama yet.I looked at this skinny, bony kitten and thought,he isn't going to make it.Still I gave it my all, force feedings, removing fleas, warming him up,still he struggled to even walk.We were talking about taking him to the clinic when we got paid, but he didn't make it,He died in his sleep. After being up until two in the morning and then having to get up for school,I was weary from the work of it,besides I have a full work load this semester.I realized I needed to take better care of myself,I need to start being a little selfish with my time right now,in a good way.I think of the hours I have put into other people and animals, hey,I need to give this gift to myself, wow, that is really progress for me.I talked to my daughter about putting a cap on the animals,we have enough, and we need to have a girls day, just relax and have fun.She agrees with me.

Mary - so sorry the little one did not make it. What a great effort you made to make his last moments lovely. I love your ESH and honesty in your post. I am always amazed at how easy it is to give of ourselves to others, yet self-care seems a bit unnatural. I agree with you - be a little be selfish and put you first!

Your daughter sounds like a 'good egg' - I hope you all plan a wonderful day and have the best of times!!
