The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
This reminds me of Step 10 "Continued to take personal inventory and when I am wrong promptly admitted it " This is another example of alanon's wisdom.
Placing this Step near the end of the "Step process ", I was and still am able to stop each evening , review my day, examine my motives ,not blame others and practice alanon principles of honesty openness and willingness, above my need to be perfect. Owning my "Stuff" and being willing to ADMIT it and move forward keeps me centered on my own life and growing .
Lessons in humility and self worth are very powerful indeed.
Going off to try to see the Pope. Enjoy your day all.
LOL I know I am still working on steps 1,2, and 3... but the other day I skipped right down to 10 and didn't know it till I saw this post.. AH came in the house with his beer...and I made one of my God awful faces (AGAIN!!!)...I think its just an automatic reaction..lol... and he said I saw that....and I said I know, I am sorry I should not have done that...he just laughed... Thanks for post.
I just want to thank you for the post & all of the posts you have been doing. I appreciate the thoughts for today. I could really use them. I try to read them every day.
If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present. - Lao Tzu
Love, love, love the share today Debb. For me, living in the present moment just brings about a calmness I never experienced before the program. How nice is it to know that we are human and @#$@# happens. It doesn't have to be categorized as good or bad, right or wrong - it just is what it is. I too think of the 10th step with this phrase and what a great tool. I used to spend the time before sleeping thinking about all that sucked in the current day and wondering what might go wrong tomorrow. I've been able to turn this into something so pleasant and peaceful that it blows my mind how different I spend that time now. Just as the step suggest, I reflect on my day. I look for things to be grateful for. I look for instances where I was uncomfortable and look for my part. If an amends is necessary, I'm willing. I don't even think about the next day any longer - I think about that upon awakening.
Lovely share and great ESH here - thanks to everyone for contributing!!
