Happy Friday to you Debb! Thanks for the lovely thread - as with almost all other slogans, this one was a game-changer.
In my never-ending quest for perfection prior to the program, I gave equal importance to most things. Of course, this was a recipe for disaster. I had no focus and was constantly feeling like a failure as I always bit off more than I could chew - each day - and well beyond my own scope.
This helps me stay in the now and within my own hoola-hoop. It helps me realize that if I keep the focus on what's important to me and my HP, and align my efforts accordingly, I can have happiness and peace.
Your service is greatly appreciate my friend - have a super day...

Thanks Deb, It is interesting to see how easy it was for me to twist ideas to a negative vision for my own use .
I used the slogan "How important is it" prior to entering program, because I had no other tools. Anything, I wanted, needed , thought or believed, I dismissed as "unimportant". I was a minimalist when it came to myself and my needs so as not to react to the insanity I was living with. I had no other tools.
Alanon gave me other tools such as:" Live one day at a time, focused on yourself, with a daily asset and gratitude list .
With these simple tools my self esteem grew and I could differentiate between what was a mountain or a mole hill and respond accordingly.
Thank you alanon Now I can smile when I hear this slogan and use it effectively.,
