C2C 9-18

The C2C reading for September 18 speaks about how our  growth in Al-Anon is all a process and that time will offer us evidence that the program works. We can see the growth in our lives when  we take the time to reflect about where we were a 6 month to a year ago.  The longer that we live by these principles we will see more evidence and this can be a strong reinforcement to keep coming back, especially in times of fear and anxiety.

When we  feel unable to move or when we are filled with fear, we have a wonderful gift to help clear our way. This is the  gift of memory. Too often we use memory to remember the negative and the pain and sadness of life.
I have found that it is important and life affirming if I  use this memory to see the progress I've made, and to know the joy and to feel gratitude. It is then that our own experience will be teaching us to trust this wonderful recovery process. All we have to do is to pay attention.

The quote is from James M Barrie; "God gave us memory so that we might have roses in December."

I love this reminder. I can let go of the negative, learn the lessons that I needed to learn and hold on to the roses. I am so grateful to this program

I can relate well to using memory to recall and review my own shortcomings, feeding an increasingly hungry beast of negativity and dread. This page is a great reminder for me to set time aside to reflect positively, to allow myself to feel grateful for the positive change in my behavior and increased peace and serenity in my life. Thank you for your service, Betty; so grateful for the wisdom of AlAnon...

Love your post today Betty. I am a big fan of reflecting and do most of my
reflecting during my morning prayers, this way I can thank HP, MIP and
Al-anon for all the gifts of peace and serenity I have been given everyday!!

I too love this post Betty. Thank you for the daily as well as your ESH!

That quote is awesome....what a great reminder to use that which is stored in our heads in a healthy positive fashion vs. a dwell on the bad fashion.

I can say that before program, I tended to be able to quickly recall all that was wrong in my family, life, surroundings, etc. I had trained my brain to look at what was broken and in need of 'repair'. This program has helped me look at what's right with my world and turn the rest over to HP if it's not mine to take action on.

I woke up yesterday with a head-cold that came from 'no where'. So, I am again not feeling too good today. I am so surprised as my exposure to others is limited to meetings, errands and my grandson.....but I still caught a bug from some place...

So, for me - just for today - I plan to take it as easy as possible. I am reflecting on 'the other side' of feeling like crud as that's where I want to be!

Happy Friday to one and all!

Wow, Betty! Love this. A program friend called me late last night as she needed to talk and I was just speaking to her about our past and to remind her of the good and the bad that has been part of our walks in our recoveries. I'll have to point her to this reading today because it touches on some things that we discussed last night.

I love what Iamhere shared about being able to look at what's right instead of focusing our energies on what's wrong. Thank you all for sharing!
