Slogan for Today – Let It Begin With Me - 9/17/15

The slogan, Let It Begin With Me helps us to keep the focus

on and be responsible for our own actions and behaviors. This

slogan helps us to take action to change the things we can change

and to take the responsibility to get our own needs met, rather

than waiting for others to change or to meet our needs for us.

Great slogan Debb It reinforces alanon's basic principle to"focus on yourself".   Learning how to stop pointing fingers and attempting to force others to change was not easy but a key to the program. This slogan is a powerful reminder.

Thanks for your service.

Great slogan, I will work to keep this closer to mind as this topic is one of continued work and focus for me. It also complements today's ODAT that reminds me that the Step One can be powerful in all aspects of my life if I change out 'alcohol' for anything that challenges me.

Remembering that I am powerless over everything outside my own mind, emotions, and reactions is fundamental to my growth and recovery. When I am looking for solutions involving changing things outside of myself, I am on my own. When I 'Let it Begin with Me', I am working the program and benefit from the wisdom, strength, and guidance of a power greater than myself. I minimize the scope of work, and increase dramatically the resources I have at hand.

Thank you for the reminder

Thanks Debb for the lovely post and the lovely thread! This slogan does help me to consider how I affect/impact my small piece of this world. It kind of reminds me of the golden rule - do unto others.... I work hard to treat others as I want to be treated, even if it's one of my A(s) and they are in a different space than I.

I can react and be a loving person even when I feel low/down. I can watch for and focus on what is right vs. what is not right. I can own my powerlessness and find release in that state of being. I do think I can affect a change in my life/peace and that's a great gift resulting from this program and the steps.

We have a truly special group/board here and I am grateful for that!!

Thanks to all for your shares. Keeping me grounded one day at a time, one moment at a time!
