What a mess!

Alcoholics make of their lives and, despite our attempts to detach, of others. My son is presently in another country far across the ocean and a couple of continents. His visa expired some time ago and he knows he is going to have to leave and come home. He met a girl when he was there, fell in love and now.... they have a beautiful baby. Our first grandson!  We were not thrilled when he told us they were expecting but a baby is a gift and we made the conscious decision to accept and welcome the little one.

Baby is three weeks old. It was not an easy delivery and they do not live in an easy country. He knows they have to be out of there by mid- November. And now, she does not want to come. Not surprising as she will be leaving everything she knows and loves to come to a foreign country with WINTER. I knew this could happen but I was praying that it would not. He is frantic as he so loves his son, we are despairing because we so wanted to see and love this baby and she is an emotional wreck.

Trying to leave this to the HP but I can see no happy way out of it. Why could he not see this coming? I am concerned that this will send him down the rabbit hole again in a country that has no help systems in place. I know this is probably not the place to post this but I am just so lost and sad. I know we did nothing to cause this and I know we can't cure it or him but I so want to change things. And I want to see and hold my grandchild. Life sure hands you some lemons does it not!

(((Deacon))) - I too send positive thoughts to you and prayers for all involved.

My favorite tool of late is to write about it (journal or mini 4th step), talk about it (sponsor or trusted program friend(s)) and pray about it.

Know that we're here for you!
