The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
I'd like to pick up some inspirational self-help books about setting/maintaining boundaries with my alcoholic boyfriend, detaching with love, and to stop obsessing over his behaviors. What have you all read that you drew inspiration from? Is there particular Al-Anon literature you recommend reading, or tapes you recommend listening to? I've read "Codependent No More" by Melodie Beattie and it really struck home with me, I'm sure there are other books out there that are equally therapeutic! Thank you all, I look forward to seeing what you have to recommend!
Morning Mistral, I would like to recommend ... Courage to Change, One Day at a Time in Al-Anon II. It is a very good book to read, it is one which you read a daily passage for Al-Anon inspiration.

Even though you are not married, you may find help in The Dilemma of the Alcoholic Marriage. I have read it over and over. Also Getting Them Sober is a great one although it too is not CAL.

Alanon's From Survival to Recovery, How Alanon Works , Paths to Recovery, When I got Busy I Got Better, and the small bookmark"Just for today " Should all be available at your local meeting or the inter group office
One that I would add is Hope for Today....it's another daily reader that is inspirational and good for meditating!!
Enjoy - and great topic!

On a daily basis I love "Courage to Change", "One Day At A Time In Al Anon" and "Hope for Today"
I really enjoyed reading "Codependent No More" by Melody Beattie (non Al Anon lit)
but that might just be because I am very co-dependent! (I'm working on it :))
None of these are cal, but I like women who love too much by robin Norwood( very good read about detaching with love and getting the focus on yourself...it's very detailed on how to recover. )I also like beyond codependency and getting better all the time by melody Beattie, the power of now by eckart tolle( about learning to be a more conscious human being and not associating with the ego) and lastly the four agreements by don Miguel Ruiz. The four agreements are be impeccable with your word, don't take it personally, don't make assumptions and so your best. He also tells how to personally free yourself and understand that other people's stuff is about them not you.
