Al-Anon Acronym For 8/19/15 ... STEPS

STEPS . Solutions. To. Every. Problem.

If we have Al-anon, there is no need to stand in our own light and try to solve our problems in darkness.

The ways and means that Al-anon offers have lighted the way for so many thousands of despairing people

that no one can question their power. When I am faced with a problem that seems impossible to solve,

when I feel trapped in a situation and can see no way out, let me ask myself whether I am standing in my

own light. I must find the vantage point where I can most clearly see my difficulty as it is; then answers will

come. (One Day At a Time in Al-Anon, pg.297)

It has become so apparent to me that sometimes I think to myself, how did I survive all those 13 agonizing

years with my A and not know about Al-Anon.  Well, I did survive and so grateful to Al-Anon for helping

me to find my reality, peace, dignity and serenity.

Have a wonderful Wednesday ..  xoxoxo

Yet another lovely share Debb....And so true! I have learned that by embracing this program and looking for the similarities in others vs. the differences, my issues/problems seem smaller than before. I too stood alone for a long while, and didn't realize how isolated and crazy I had become. I use crazy because I was doing my best but my results appeared to be a random mix of detaching with anger, enabling, controlling, over-reacting, etc. The 'drama' that existed as a result of the chaos was well beyond comfortable or pleasant.

It amazes me how the steps when worked are a design for better living. The first 3 for me are a part of my morning routine - I can't, He can, I think I will let him. Those three thoughts or concepts are a great way for me to start my day!

Using 4 thru 11 to change me and how I view, act and react are powerful too. I have learned that things I saw as 'problems' before were not as bad as I thought - they magnified because I tended to project the worst.

So very grateful for this program and what a way of life. I wouldn't change where I am now for anything!
