C2C 8-16

The C2C reading for August 16 speaks about living healthy, eating and resting  in the midst of a crisis.  It  points out that many times we skip meals forget to rest or relax until we are exhausted and simply ignore our basic needs.

The reading suggests that during times of difficulty that is when we should take extra special care of ourselves, because our needs are very important. By making an extra effort to eat, sleep, attend Al-Anon meetings, relax and pray we are strengthening ourselves physically, emotionally and spiritually. This can make it difficult situation easier.

We are the only ones that can make our well-being our top priority, so we owe it to ourselves to do so.

The quote is from"In All our Affairs; putting first things first,in troubled times, means finding whatever way I can to set aside my burdens, even if its just for a moment to make time for myself.

The slogans. alanon calls, a reading in the C2C helps me with this powerful  practice.

I m going camping late today and will not be back until Friday.Hope  some one else can take the time to post a "Thought for the Day" See you Friday .

Betty -

Have a great time and say 'hello' to nature for me - I've not camped for a long, long while and miss it!!

I am one who needs contact reminders that balance is really really important for emotional serenity. I need to eat a little, sleep a bit, play a bit, work a bit, etc. each day. I am so all or nothing, black or white that the simple concepts of self-care and self-protection still must be in my first waking thoughts.

I have always loved First Things First as well as Do the Next Right Thing. I have learned as I get older that sometimes, that next right thing is a nap or a break - especially since I don't sleep well.

What a great reading/reminder for me today! Thanks for the post and the ESH!

I will happily post while you are away! I know Debb and Mary and Paul will also help out....

Truly, have a wonderful, wonderful time!

Thanks Betty for today's C2C reading ... I believe that I am, and rightfully so, solely
responsible for my mental and physical well being, regardless of the chaos. Al-anon
has taught me well, that my diet, exercise, sleep and mediation is just for me, no
matter what!  smile

Wishing you, Betty, a peaceful and restful camping trip.

Will be happy to help everyone post in your absence, you will be missed!

Today's reading hit home for me. Lost 10 pounds in two weeks...and obviously not in a good way. I read today's C2C this morning and went to the store to pick up a few healthy things. Lo and behold, one of the two women who welcomed me in my first F2F two weeks ago was there and said hello. It didn't hit me until just now that it was once again HP reassuring me that I was doing the right thing.

Have fun Betty!

What an important reading this is. Our physical, emotional and spiritual well-being should be our top priority but unfortunately, in the midst of this terrible disease, it all too often is not. Thanks for the reminder and have a wonderful camping trip Betty!
