I'm so sorry this is happening. One thing you should know before spending the money is that interventions have a very low success rate. For sobriety to "take," the drinker has to want to be sober. Interventions may make a drinker agree to enter a program, but often they are not convinced to want actual sobriety. So the money is spent and people are back where they started.

Sometimes AA members will go talk to someone considering sobriety, not for pay but as a service. Some of the foiks on here may know more about that.

I hope you'll look into meetings for yourself. When one person (for instance you) goes into recovery, the whole family benefits and dynamics change.

I know these services are very expensive I would call the AA hotline listed in your white pages They might be able to recommend one or they would be able to send a member over to work a 12th Step call. Good luck.

Hi paradigm,

In so many things like this we forget about ourselves, and concentrate on the other person. I would urge you to check out Al Anon meetings yourself. You will get empathy and help from other like-minded individuals, and you may even find out more about interventions in the area.

They are located in Hamilton, NJ (Mercer County). They set my AH up in a rehab in FL several years ago. I believe they may have some information on interventions although at the time they told me I had to get my husband to come into their office and agree to talk to the counselors there. That was really tough. Good luck to you.
