The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
I've been reading the step 4 section of Paths to Recovery recently as I start my own inventory. The four words that keep coming up are love, kindness, honesty and balance. There are a couple of suggestions about using key words as the backbone of our inventory for example managing, martyrdom, manipulation and mothering. Before I go any further with my inventory which I'm doing in Blueprint for Progress I was thinking I might do some work around love, kindness, honesty and balance so that I approach my inventory with some more learning and understanding of those character assets.
I would love to hear people's thoughts on what each of the words mean to them.
Thank you and love in fellowship for the day x x

"There's still so much in me that I need to learn to love."
I believe that love, kindness, honesty and balance are the principles of Al-Anon that I attempt to incorporate into each and every relationship or personal interaction that I have each day .
I have learned not to react but to respond and by responding with the above attitudes enables me to put principles above personalities and live my life with courage, serenity and wisdom .
Before program and working the steps, I would not have valued these principles as I do today.
For me, love, kindness, honesty and balance all mean--- to keep the focus on myself while I respond to people with courtesy, and respect, saying what I mean and meaning what I say without saying it mean .
