I have a friend over on the side of the world where most of you guys live.
Anyway I was having a very black time one day a couple of months ago and I caught her for a chat very early in the morning, in her timezone.
She lives in Michigan USA and she said that she was going outside to plant sunflowers with her daughter and she was going to plant one just for me, and name it for me and send me pictures. The thought really made me smile.
Anyway she posted this on my facebook just before. It's my sunflower.
So as I trudge through the depths of winter here in Australia, in Michigan USA, there is a sunflower almost ready to bloom for me.
The bad news is, they have combined the words "Sunflower" and "Melly" and named my sunflower "Smelly".
Buy hey, it's beautiful anyway right?
This makes my soul sing.

Super kewl Missmell! I remember when I was little, we all got to pick something to plant in the garden. Well....I love sunflower seeds so picked sunflower. My dad cursed me for years as they germinate very fast/well and are very hard to get rid of!!! Needless to say, I never got to eat any seeds as they have to be roasted/salted/processed and we didn't have the internet back then...
You brought that memory forward for me - what a lovely photo and a great gift for you!
