tried my hand at biscuits this morning the outcome seems more like a ceramic class fail. I haven't tried one of these rocks yet as my wife volunteered to do gravy when she gets home from work. In the mean time I got a response to a text inquiry I made earlier to my daughter. I got an off handed heads up from my brother 2700 miles away who my relapsed son has been gossiping to about family. Yes they also gossip...they can make themselves look better that way rather than the wife and family he is divorcing. My brother makes notice that he hope my daughter comes thru her problem...My daughter lives 10 miles away and my son is on island so why the hell am I not trusted with secrets? If they cannot and will not trust me with the information maybe they should change their ancestry. Yes I'm pissed mostly at the crummy feeling I haven't let myself feel in such a long time...Resentments yes ...old memories of resentments.....WAIT!! I'm not going to talk about this I'm going to go throw a biscuit against the wall to see if it bounces or shatters into small pieces then maybe get another recipe something that comes out like I want it to....flakey kinda like how I feel right now. Don't even want to think about the word powerless. Pooooor Meeeee (((((hugs)))))
I do so understand That family triangle is a killer I just received a"Get well gift"(overnighted at considerable cost to the sender) from one of my sister's friends My sister told her I was very ill and that was why my sister did not make her party. It never stops
Can I borrow one of those Biscuits?
Prayers and positive thoughts on the way . Keep smiling
Put the milk and the butter in a mixing bowl. Add the yeast, and let sit for 5 minutes.
Add the sugar, eggs, salt, and flour. With a paddle attachment for your stand mixer, mix for a few seconds until just combined. Let this mixture sit for about 10 minutes.
Switch the attachment to the dough hook and knead on medium speed for 10 minutes. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes or until doubled.
Divide and roll dough into 15 balls. You may have more or less depending on the size you make the rolls.
Place in a greased 9x13 pan. Cover and rise for 15 minutes. Bake at 375 for 13 to 16 minutes.
Notes
This recipe can also be used in a bread maker. Add ingredients in the order suggested by your bread machine manufacturer and use the dough setting.

(((Jerry)))) & (((Betty))) - ah....the crazy drama that we all work to avoid still is present at times.
The best I can offer - thank goodness for the slogan....this too shall pass. Hopefully for these current 'events', it's sooner rather than later.
All I got is when this is happening in my world, I do my best to stay within my hula hoop and not engage.
Positive thoughts and prayers for you both!
PS - I use Bisquik for biscuits. It's fast, easy and better than my own biscuit skills....

Debb...a Higher Power tool...thank you so much...gonna do that recipe real soon and save face...Yeah my wife came home and did the gravy which was good and we both agreed we had it over "rocks"...I know your's will turn out better and I will let you know. Mahalo ...love you (((((hugs)))))
well, number one, I don't like biscuits, number two - I bet birds love them! Blood family is what you are stuck with, I much prefer the chosen family - those brothers and sisters, aunts, uncles and cousins that earn their place in our hearts.
oh and number three - how do you get to Carnegie Hall?
Practice, practice, practice!

LMH Carnegie Hall is easy to reach. It is in midtown Manhatan and can be reached by several differeent subway or bus lines depending on where you are coming from-- Of coarse you can always grab a taxi .
If you are coming to NYC let me know and maybe we can connect. :)
You know what? Yeah, we are supposed to be learning not to pity ourselves and to detach etc and we ARE learning, but partly that's because many of us have families that will only prey on us when we are most vulnerable. THIS is the family that will not do that! And sometimes we need a little pity. So sorry Jerry.
I live in the southern states. The roads are paved with biscuits. I remember learning how southern a thing it really is when I was 18 and was driving through a mcdonalds in Arizona and ordered a biscuit and I could hear the whole kitchen laughing through the drive-through speaker!
Sorry Jerry. Cooking failure is one of the few sure fire ways to plunge me into a blacker than back mood. Can you crumble them up into icecream?

Or if you've made those scone-like things they would turn into a bread and butter pudding quite nicely

Hey Gerry, I could use a couple of your biscuits today! Have to go to a family thing and just had a big to-do with my sister-in-law. I need more practice with the people than with the biscuits! Lyne
Gotta love all the make lemonade responses! Oh if all of life's problems were of this temper! I don't much care for biscuits but warm with cream cheese and homemade strawberry jam - one word: YUM!

Those are cookies in the states. Biscuits are soft, flaky and yummy good with gravy - they're not sweet at all.
I'm getting hungry - ha.ha.ha.ha.

Went to KFC with my wife after this mornings meeting and I held one of those flakey thing up in front of me and said..."Now this is what I was talking about and wanting" I think that is like a Bisquik example and I'm gonna do it...I will report. LOL you guys are rich. ((((hugs))))
Hey Jerry - I agree.....those at KFC are heavenly. And, of course - they can go with the chicken gravy quite well but are also good with honey/butter...
I am now again getting hungry!!! Urghhhhhh - love good biscuits & gravy!!

I used to work at KFC many decades ago before they dumped the soft hot delicious bread rolls for dry tasteless biscuits - yeast rolls win hands down for me! Used to poke a hole in a roll, fill it with butter, poke a chunk of dark meat into the hole and, napkin at the ready, indulge!
