What Jerry F late for a meeting!!!!

Yes he was and I'm here to tell on him. HAH!!  surprise surprise I thought he was 45 minutes early and then the room was assembled and the fellowship was handling the issue of recovery and no one...not anyone even took notice or issue of my lateness except me.   How the hell did this happen...I can never say never now...humbling...thank you God and the fellowship was doing fine as I could see.  This is my AA home group which I do service in and  which also has an Al-Anon characteristic in that we don't always speak about our drinking (and using) and the negative brag on the chaos, doom and gloom.  The membership also cites the characteristic and acknowledges it for what it has done for their sobriety.  What the hell we cannot blame all of our troubles on the chemical can we?  On the days we are not drunk we are still alcoholic, mind, body, spirit and emotions.  We try honestly to own our stuff and the consequences.  I was late because that is what I was...problem understood and consequence temporary.   Thanks for letting me share.    (((((hugs))))) smile

ROFL.......Stop telling on Jerry - oh...wait - that wasn't tattling that was a confession of sorts!!!! Ha-ha-ha-ha....

I tend to freak out when I am late. It makes me crazy and I've decided it's all about 'family of origin'. In my family, everything was perfect to the outside world, and we were not to be late. There were many other 'rules' of perception but those were the two that were hammered into our heads most often.

Ah - I am sure you were missed. That's another thing I love about our programs - where else can you belong to a group and not a single person gives you that 'glare' when you walk in late? Fellowship is AWESOME!!!

(((Hugs))) Jerry - what a great share....I did LOL for real!

LOL Jerry, I want to attend both yours and iamhere's meetings.  I try to get to meeting on time but I also come and go as I please (quietly) at times and I do get "that glare" from a few regulars. My recovery is my business so it's like water off a duck's back now but that was not the case years ago as a new person to the program. I felt judged and uncomfortable. Sometimes I skipped the meeting entirely because of fear of being stared at and judged. Now I'm late but no longer care if some people's focus changes from paying attention to the meeting to me walking in the door. I don't apologize, I just take a seat. I only feel obliged to apologize if I'm scheduled to do service and show up late but I take that pretty seriously because it involves the group as a whole so I show up early.

Jerry, I think it's funny that you had the time mixed up. I've done that too with my days. In fact, I did it day before yesterday and was waiting for my ride to f2f. I was only 24 hours early LOL.  It happens! biggrin  Sounds like you have a great group that likes to stay in the solution with working on healthy changes rather than reliving the old days and old ways.  Thanks for sharing   TT

What is a really good senior moment - on Saturday and Sunday, I attend two different groups! I often lead the meetings and I have many times welcomed people to the wrong meeting - by name & location......you want to talk about funny looks on faces - just welcome them to a completely different group.....*sigh* - progress....not perfection!

TT - come on down/over/up anytime!!! We'd welcome you with open arms!!!
