I'm back after 6 years

Wow. I just found this site again and actually remembered everything on logging in and searched my username and all my posts and replies from 6 years ago show up. I read every single one. I am in awe. My baby, back then, is now 6 years old! My middle child is 12 and my oldest just graduated high school. Wow. Wow. Wow. Life is something isn't it? Still dealing w same issues of AH. Yes, still married. He's worse than ever imo. He hides his drinking liquor (vodka) from me but drinks his beer freely in front me. Tonight he even forgot he was grilling outside and came to me and asked if I would go with him to eat aomwwhere..he was asking me so I would drive otherwise I know he wouldn't have gone ,but still... His mannerisms are worse... slurred speach, almost hyperactive, when he talks to me his eyes get huge and his facial expressions are almost just over the top. Makes me sick. Literally. I know he has mixed Xanax w drinking at times so I don't know if this is changing his ways or if it's heavy liquor or something else... I have threatened , been sarcastic, been rude but then when I act this way he wants to start involving the kids and acting like dad of the year. Promising to take them places do things w them or whatever. More so he does this w our 6 yearold. Not the 12 year old. Otherwise everything is about him. I'm stuck. Financially I cannot afford three kids on my own. He knows this too. He carries my health insurance. I'm self employed- hairdresser- no insurance options available that I could afford. I'm so mad right now I can hardly even type. I'm sick of his condescending tone towards me when he drinks. There's more than just the alcohol I can feel it.

Beachee...welcome back we've been and still are here for you.  They still holding face to face meeting in your town.  How"s that going.  That is what saved my sanity and life as I also started and then stopped and then returned to find them still working it and telling me "It works when you work it".  In support (((((hugs))))) smile

Beachee -

I also welcome you back! Hope that you are able to re-invest in yourself and your program. We are powerless over so many things with this darn disease, and our best gift of the program is self sanity, serenity and self-preservation.

Take care of you and let HP worry about the rest.

Glad you are back! (((Hugs)))

Thank ya'll. Jerry- I don't think they hold face to face meetings here. If they have it must be something new because I remember looking it up (but it has been awhile) . The town next to us may; I'm going to go look it up now .

There are no al anon meetings close to me; small town. Closest one is 45 minutes away on Wednesdays at 8 pm. I cannot leave my kids w him at night;not when he is drinking and mixing pills w it too. There is no one else to watch them that late.

Beacheemom -

Betty has posted the meeting schedule above, and there are some great members who attend. For the last few weeks, we've lacked chairpersons for the meetings but still members are there and willing to offer ESH as needed/wanted. I point this out only because if you join and do not see a meeting in progress, feel free to engage in chat and you will feel as welcome as if you were 'in the room'....

If you don't have any literature, you can order it online. The Al-Anon website has literature there and I know that Amazon also carries some. I ventured to my local library first to get a feel for the literature before buying so I was able to get what worked for me!

Glad you are here - keep coming back.

Also, Betty 'leads' a Step/Tradition Study on a neighboring board that will start over with Step 1 in a couple of weeks. I am planning to go through the steps again using that guideline and think you will find it helpful as well!!

Take care!

Got you and your kids in my prayers Sister.  I've got an awesome Higher Power who listens so know He's already at your door step.  The meetings here will help a lot including the board.    (((((hugs))))) smile

The mixing pills is the scariest feeling because they are so out of control. I just remember how constantly unsafe I felt with my XAH. It was a very valid concern if the kids would find him passed out or worse dead. My daughter was about 12 when the insanity started to peak my son would have been 7. She learned how to deal with him and thankfully as stupid as he got I was able to leave and go to a meeting. Plus I started taking the kids with me especially during the summer.

I hope you will come here there is also the Alanon main website that will also help you regarding online meetings and a LOT of alanon talk and help. I find getting more of a flavor of people helps me figure things out .. online can be kind of sterile in terms of you can't hear or see people's body language.

Podcasts from Alanon speakers have saved me over and over again. Big hugs, keep coming back.

Hugs S :)

Welcome back!  You are in the right place for support, this board and it's membership

are the best.  Keep coming back and start working the steps and traditions, because

it works when you work it.
