C2C 7-2

The C2C reading for July 2 is an important reminder of the power of Al-Anon to change many of my destructive behaviors.

The reading points out that "procrastination" is a source of a great  deal of needless anxiety.  It  then goes on to suggest a sure fire way to address the habit of postponing

We can recognize this habit and change that pattern by keeping the focus on myself.,I can then begin began to pay attention to my own thoughts and feelings. This is the first step in order to be able to change patterns.

It suggests that when we feel anxious , that we stop , take the time to  to go within, examine our motives and find out what is causing this discomfort. When we see that it is the habit of postponing unpleasant tasks until the last moment, and find it hard to relax until the task is done, we can  finally come to see that if we took care of the issue  right away we could usually let go of the anxiety and appreciate the rest of the day.

The reading explains that old habits can be hard to break.and that change  doesn't happen overnight but as we become more willing to let go of procrastination our lives become more manageable and more enjoyable.

The thought for the day' emphasizes the importance of looking at our own behavior and motives to determine if  I'm getting in the way of my own best interests. That by focusing on ourselves we can move toward freedom and serenity today.

The quote for the day is the Liberian proverb; "Do not look where you fell, but where you slipped."
I translate that quote into the Al-Anon tools of , keep the focus on yourself ,examine your motives and step 10 continued to take personal inventory.
Have a grand day

Great daily reader and reminder. I am guilty of procrastination and work on it constantly. It seems that when I retired, the phrase, it will be there tomorrow became my norm!

I love the quote of the day and the thought of the day - both remind me to look at what is working and what is not working and proceed forward accordingly based on the ultimate goal of serenity and peace in my life.

Thank you as always for the great ESH & the share of the daily.
