I broke my bus

well, not completely broke but I bent it - from childhood, my first instinct is to hide it, don't talk about it, don't say anything and maybe it will blow over and no one will notice and I won't get in trouble for it. Of COURSE I didn't play it that way, I'm an adult now! I sent a text to my boss saying what had happened and why my perfectly straight bumper wasn't perfectly straight anymore and he and the mechanic straightened out the bumper and I earned the nickname Crash. Its funny how that first instinct is still the initial reaction to things - deeply ingrained and hard fought to get out of that way of living. Confession is good for the soul; and after I sent the text and received his response, I thought no more of it, the problem was fixed and life went on. I didn't spend all last night worried about it; I didn't project what "he" would say, what trouble I would be in; it was no more than something that had happened and needed fixing and - hey, be more careful next time.

Its a much better position to operate from than the scared little girl I used to be.

Good work Likemyheart I can so identify with the go to reaction of "fear" Great that you picked up your alanon tools, processed the situation with courage and wisdom, and responded in a grown up fashion to the accident.
Glad that you are safe and now have a new nick name: "Crash "
Be well

likemyheart - YAY for you that you spoke your truth! I too relate to the fear reaction, and when that thinking starts, my next thought is projecting....and rarely is that projecting positively.

The truth shall set us free - we've all heard it and we've all seen it and now through your share, we've all watched it happen.

Sorry for the 'bus breakage' but grateful for the lesson you taught us with your share. How lovely that you're growth is shining through!

Keep working your program - it looks so good on you!
