Today's HfT addresses the internal struggles that can accompany step 8. The Thought for the Day reminds us that true healing from the pain we hold from alcoholic behavior begins only when we accept that it was caused by alcohol the disease, not the alcoholic.
This thought, along with today's C2C offers a good opportunity for meditation, especially when we are troubled by negative thoughts toward the A in our lives. It can be difficult to separate the two, but it is a choice and can be achieved with true acceptance. We can let go of the desire to hold the alcoholic accountable, to make them pay for the pain and suffering, instead acknowledging that they too are powerless over alcohol.
It is not about us, and AlAnon helps us see that. The focus must be on ourselves if we are to progress in efforts of recovery and consistently find serenity. This concept is extremely powerful for me and effective in letting go of anger and resentment toward the A and their behavior. Thank you AlAnon for the guidance and wisdom...

I agree 100% with your summation and the reading!!! For entirely too long, I was looking outwards for the problem and lived in the 'if only', 'when this', etc. It was so dark and difficult and ... never worked! Once I found the program and realized that I had the power within me to heal with others - it was a relief and a gift.
Only when I completely surrendered and accepted what was did I find the will, desire and strength to move forward. Today, I have compassion for those around me who are sick from the disease and can love them unconditionally while disliking or even hating the disease.
What I love most about the reading and this program is when I feel uncertain, uneasy or just 'off', I can choose to meditate and reflect on the issue and reason and then move on and about my day - often with peace and grace. I never had that before and in looking back, was always grumpy, arrogant, sad, - something negative...
Grateful for the program, the dailys and the wonderful friends that are on this journey too! Thanks for posting!!

Paul Thank you for sharing on the HFT reading Learning to let go of the anger and resentment a fantastic gift of this program When I fiinally saw how this anger, resentment self pity and fear hurt me . I became willing to ask HP to help me let it go.
I still love the alcoholics in my life but I do hate the disease.
