I have good days when healthy living with an active A, but my bad days are horrible. I have tried to move on and right now I just can't. At least you have that going for you. Spend some time in getting to know yourself. Glad you are starting out good today. Let's both keep it that way eh?

Good morning lookingup and I do relate to your post. I too had good days and bad days and still do at times. The good news - I have many more good days than bad days, and I view that as a direct result of self-care and program. It just gets better and better so long as I stay focused on my side of the street, the program and the steps. Baby steps are perfect and always remember progress, not perfection.

When I have a 'bad moment' I do remember that I was told early on that I can start my day over at any time. This was a gift to me and I do try to do so. I also make sure I do a variety of things for my growth each day and stay as close as I can to the program - literature, daily readings, step writing, journaling, meetings, meditation, etc. I can usually shake a bad mood or sadness by realizing that in this very moment, on any given day - all is OK. It seems when I am looking at the past or pondering the future that I am more likely to get out of sorts.

Hang in with us, keep doing what you're doing and it will get better and better!

(((Hugs))) to you!

Sitting alone for very long takes me to a bad place in my head.I started taking college classes and developing friendships,it helps me to stay busy.I think about relationships too and I want to be as healthy as possible when I start dating again.I know I will never be perfect, but I have become aware of my patterns enough to see that at the times in my life when I was most depressed I didn't get into healthy relationships.

Thanks for sharing, lookingup!

Before the divorce, I had an AW, two stepkids, three cats--and now I live alone. The
silence in the house is deafening sometimes. It's tough. I try to keep myself
busy though... keeping up with my healthy eating, with my exercise, with my
work, with this forum... trying to slowly get people back into my life who I distanced
from while suffocated by the addiction drama...

Some days are tough. Yesterday: tough. Last Sunday: really tough. On average
though, they are starting to get better.

I'm not ready to date again yet, though... still could usually cry at the drop of a
pin if you said the right things.

ODAT... that's one of the slogans I really like.

Please feel free to share anytime!

Mark

Part of my program was learning how to  love myself.   At first I thought that weird until I learned the definition of love I have today...now I like and love my self and have absolutely not problem being with myself.   "....and your neighbor as yourself"....you must know how to love yourself first before attempting to love someone else.  ((((hugs)))) smile
