Courage to Change 6/17 C2C

Today's reading reminds us that we are seeking peace through progress, not perfection.  Al-Anon helps many of us to cope with crises that we simply could not have managed on our own.

The program teaches us to lean on a Power greather than ourselves and discover that we can live and even grow through the worst of times if we use our faith, program, fellowship and steps.

The reading also suggests most of us find some level of peace with our situation, and manage changes more effectively.

Still others continue to worry about the risk of returning chaos.   What then?  Will Al-Anon help as it did before?  The reading reminds us that our future is an unknown.  Our best hope or our worst fear could be next, yet we have no reason to consider or project either one.  We are reminded to make the most of this day, today and to trust our recovery, our tools and our HP.

Always remember how far we have come, and know that in this moment, all is OK.

Today's Reminder:  Today I will take a few minutes to acknowledge my growth.  I am not perfect, but I certainly have made progress.

Today's Quote:  ".... we may not recognize our progress right away, but the effects of working the Al-Anon program are profound and lasting." - from ...In All Our Affairs

Today's reading for me is exactly what I needed to see/hear.  Before program, I was constantly worried about the future and projecting the worst.  I was sad about the past as well, and hardly ever had the ability to stay in the moment or the day and just enjoy all that is around me.

The program not only has taught me to be mindful of the right here and the right now, but also that my HP will lead me through anything if I just let him.  I was a terrible perfectionist before the program, and can be satisfied today with less than perfect.  I am given the grace to realize that I could not do it alone, but together we can all move mountains.

I am grateful for Al-Anon and for all of the members, online and local.  The fellowship, steps, slogans and HP have brought me a better way of living and of dealing with life on life's terms.

Hugs to all and thank you for being here.

Beautiful post this morning Iamhere, thank you for all you do for us.

I too have been reminded, by Al-Anon's teachings, to live in the moment and not the past or the future.  I used to be able to do that in the past, but it seems for the past decade or so I allowed the disease and it's effects on me to cause that ability to be mindful, to slip away.

Thanks to Al-Anon, MIP and HP I have regained that skill and it allows me to live with less anxiety and fear, which is so important for a peaceful soul.

Hey Mark. The readings come from the Alanon daily readers. You can buy them at meetings or from the official alanon website. If you havent been to a meeting yet then you might want to check the website for them in your area. When you go you are usually given a newbie pack of literature that are so so helpful.

Sorry Mark17 - I missed this before! I found a 'lot of' alanon and alanon related items on ebay one time - it was a 'score'!!!!

Just another thought if you do the ebay thing!!
