What is wrong with my brain anyway? LOL. Just found out I may NOT be homeless and MAY be able to purchase a home... and immediately my head starting ruminating over all the failed financial endeavors my AH has gotten himself into. Then I let the fear slip in - like well, if he has another relapse, or doesn't help with the mortgage, says he's going to do something and doesn't he could derail the whole thing.. .blah blah blah!
The truth is - I have always paid the rent and will continue to pay some kind of rent / mortgage somewhere until my dying days. I am mostly not financially dependent on him. He has recently begun providing funds every few weeks, has 5 months sobriety and is gainfully employed for almost a year.
He said I'm taking his inventory.
Probably am.
I think the past is just chock full of financial failure and I feel kind of stupid making a purchase like this with someone in recovery. That is the honest truth, as ugly as it sounds. And yes, I know I'm in recovery too LOL.
So - back to original question. What is wrong with my brain??!?
Oh.....I agree 100% with Debb - live in the here and now and make any decisions using facts in front of you vs. the past.
I fully understand how all 'that stuff' creeps back into your brain. What amazes me is how quickly it can happen and derail what should be a positive experience - *sigh*....
However, the best gift of this program is if I quickly realize my mental slip and ask for guidance from HP, I can usually re-center myself to right thinking!
(((Hugs))) for the good news!! Make some new memories and enjoy the day.
PS - kudos to your other half too - the recovery journey is hard for both sides!!
