The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
I have been to f2f meetings for a year, but haven't been going for a year after the group dissolved. So I am here.
I know in my f2f meetings there were lines used all the time. I didn't realize they were particularly used in the program. I still consider myself a newbie in the program, as I am only on steps 1 & 2 and still not doing well on those yet. I know, work in progress!!
So, I would like to write down the slogans used when I need them in a pinch. I've had a difficult week and need to get my program back to where I'm positive and focused, not moving backwards and focusing on my A. I'm a bit obsessed this week on that. I need to get focused on me and getting out of this pattern.
So, what are your favorite slogans that have helped you?
I know mine is Let Go and Let God.
Please post yours so we all can put them in our own personal arsenal. This could be fun!
Happy Friday!
Gabigail

I Love this summary
Al-Anon Slogans in a Poem - By Coach Papa
First Things First - I have heard it said - Be Honest With yourself, - get out of your head - You can Feel Good -About Saying "No" - Keep Coming Back to - Talk And Grow - Easy Does It - sounds real nice - If you Keep It Simple - you don't roll the dice - Live And Let Live - Brings it back to you - They're in recovery, - you are, too - What's to Be will Be - So, Let Go & Let God - Just wait and see - That one Day At A Time - Is more than a phrase - In Al-Anon, - it's the phrase that pays - Think! Listen And Learn - or watch bridges burn - Keep An Open Mind, - Now it's your turn - Is your serenity worth it - Just, Fake It 'Till You Make It! - I am pretty sure, You can - Cause, How - important is it? - In time, you will understand - It's true, we're all different, - But, together we can make it - If you feel that you can't, - Then, once again, fake it - When you let it begin with me - The fog will raise, - the sun will shine - Your eyes will see - Slogans are there - For you to use - Say one every day - So you don't sing the blues - It works when you work it - We say and it's true - We're all here to help - But your recovery is up to you.
Oh How I LOVE the Slogans.... When I First Got Here it was... "God Grant me the Serenity... PLEASE" Which of Course I Bring from the Tool Box Still till this Day, Now I am More Geared to "How Important Is It" I Use to Making a Mountain out of a Mole Hill... So That Is a Good One for Me ;)
Another Favorite is "Live & Let Live" I Remind Myself of this one when I am Attempting to Stick My Nose in Someone Else's Lawn :/ And it Reminds be to Get back to My own Yard :)
And another All Time Favorite "Let Go & Let God" Because for Me... I Can't Remind Myself Enough on That One
Thanks for the Post... Happy Friday Family ;)
((((((Hotrod))))) LOVE the Poem... Thanks for Sharing ;)

A few of mine are "When in doubt...Don't" (make decisions) "Don't react"(think) "Made a mistake? go back and fix it" "God is" all the others too. (((hugs)))
I love the slogans and sayings and use one or more everyday. Favorites are probably Live and Let Live, How Important Is It, Easy Does It, ODAT, & Progress not Perfection. Recently I looked online and found a few new ones: Anger is one letter short of Danger, An expectation is a Resentment Waiting to Happen, Detachment not Amputation, and There but for the Grace of God Go I. Wish I could have an entire list-wonder how many there are? :) Lyne
This is an awesome thread!!! I am grateful to gabigail for starting it!!!
The Anger/Danger is one that if I heard it before, I didn't file it away for future use.
I too love and use them often.
