My wife had a tab at the bar next to my office on Friday, which she swore was her lunch of perch fish, but the price point at that bar for lunch is 8.75, and her bill was over $26. She swore she had not been drinking, but she seemed pretty drunk to me, and despite the expensive lunch, was starving and whining about stopping for pizza. I didn't ask her about the drinking because I was pretty sure she had been drinking and why bother? She was only going to say she hadn't been drinking and come up with an elaborate story to explain away the tab. So, I thought I handled that alright, but it was a struggle.
And, my dad and sister were coming down to pick up our shared dog, but then my sister was sick and not coming, and so my dad stayed with us instead of in a hotel, and my wife had a panic attack at the grocery store (shaking, sobbing, feeling like she is having a heart attack, etc.) and is afraid of getting addicted to her meds, so wouldn't take the pill her doc prescribed for such situations. And, in a moment of weakness I agreed that she could get herself a beer to calm down. Which turned into a six pack initially and then drinking a liter of vodka while my dad was staying with us over night, resulting in my wife being drunk again.
Sunday, I should have been working on my edits since I have to deposit this week (final step to getting my degree), and instead of that, I ended up missing my dad and the dog terribly while I watched my wife get drunk again. I was not coping well. It is so hard for me to keep my head where it needs to be when I don't have some time away.
Thank goodness for Monday, and some time out of the house and away from my wife. I am doing much better today.

Hi Skorpi,
She doesn't need your permission to get drunk. Giving her permission or not will make little difference. So you should be able to take that piece of guilt out of your weekend results. I'm glad you are able to come here. I've been in the situation of nobody answering the phone, that's one of the reasons I am here, somebody always answers eventually here!
Oh friend - I'm so sorry this happened. It sounds like a whirl wind, and a roller coaster and a big cluster. I really like Kenny's share.... you don't need to verbalize consent or permission. I'm tucking that away into my own tool box for sure!

I hope that your head and your heart are where they need to be. I hope you've managed to carve out time for you. Remember that as much dust and chaos as they stir up, we don't have to enter into it and be blinded.
When the school work settles - maybe schedule some time with your dad? Seems you've got a good one.
