The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
The May 31 reading in the C2 C speaks about embarking on a spiritual journey when we enter the rooms of Al-Anon.
It suggests that many stories have been written about a hero who takes a spiritual journey where he must face great challenges before gaining a treasure at the end.
It goes on to suggest that like these heroes we must also face difficult times, wheny using the tools of the program. We are guided on this journey by a power greater than ourselves, but the steps we take must be our own .
Only by facing the darkness can we receive the treasure, the light of joy.
The reminder for the day is self-knowledge is the path to personal freedom.
Quote is from Wendell Berry; "the world cannot be discovered by journey of miles----- only by spiritual journey--- by which we arrived at the ground at our feet -- and learn to be at home
The reading points out that the Steps and principles of the program, such as a sponsor and meetings help us on our way to self exploration.
Since we are asked to explore hidden motives, secrets, buried memories and unrecognized talents, it is not an easy road.
As we go through this process, using he wisdom of the steps and principles we overcome obstacles to our personal growth, such as the effects of alcoholism and many of our negative tools.
I agree this is not an easy journey, but well worth it
Thanks as always Betty for the daily and the wisdom that comes with it.
The message today aligns perfectly with a show I watch each Sunday - and the speaker is discussing the process of separating the wheat from the chaff. I am always getting exactly what I need with this program and my self-care - all that I feel ... the good, sorrow, etc. is intended for a better 'me' - HP lead vs. Me lead.
"Sometimes you have to lose something to gain something better. If you look back over your life and recall the times you really grew and came up higher, most often, it was the times of difficulty where your faith grew, and you were stretched beyond your limits." ... - oh so true!!!
(((Hugs))) to you and hoping for a great day for all!
