Pay it forward....

HI all... I'm swamped and busy but it's good busy... my son is getting married and it's out of town for us so we have a trip coming up.

Trying not to stress about it.

Anyway last night at our meeting (I am leading it) something happened and I jumped into mommy mode for a young lady who was melting down...  (we actually went through a box of tissues last night with all the tears from folks it was a very emotional meeting)

I cleaned up and ended up on the floor with her laying in my lap crying...  I wanted her to go to the hospital but she promised me she was safe so we opted to get her to a friend (we being the young lady, another young lady who knows her and mother Nessa)   A drove the girl's car to her friend and I followed.

I then took A back to her car.

I stepped out to call my AH and let him know I was going to be late (he was very supportive of my being "mom" and very pleased I called him to let him know)

the young lady said  "Nessa's so kind she's been a member a long time hasn't she?"  and A said  "nope she's the most advanced newbie I know"

Made me feel like this is working.

I got a text from the young lady saying thank you and that she was better and safe.

I sent her a text this morning letting her know she can come by today if she wants.

Turns out ALL THREE OF us have the same sponsor...

Pay it forward and you shall reap rewards.

I don't do it to make myself feel better.  I do it as it's a natural thing but the good feelings i have about it are a bonus.

Sometimes this process amazes me.

I do enjoy giving back

Doesnt matter if its alanon or one of my other
Support groups. Being a supportive Guide or
friend. To help the person behind you Because
you understand their road. Pickem up And dust
them off. Make sure they are safe.

It certainly does help if they are trying to help
Themselves get better and are willing to put in
The effort to change and grow.

Good for you Nessa.
The part that blows me away is realising now that I feel as though I can and do have something to offer others and that's an amazing feeling; before al-anon I felt as if I was too messed up myself to have anything of real value to offer another person. How wonderful is it to feel as though we are strong enough to give back to other people!!
Love it

Oh - awesome!!! Thanks so much for the lovely share and the reminder that paying it forward is rewarded by much more than what was given.

So glad she followed up with you too - kind of closed the circle for the 24 Hours!

Make it a great day!
