He is out tonight drinking. I've been in recovery for thirty years and have been around alcoholics my whole life, dealt with mental health issues my whole life. So why I am I still so crazy with worry? Why does this still predominate my mind?
Thank you for this forum. I know the answers to both of those questions, but it helped me a great deal just to type them out.
Welcome Vorpal. Living with the disease of alcoholism is very difficult. I am -so happy that you reached out and shared. Alanon face to face meetings held in most communities helped me to learn how to love an alcoholic but still stay sane and detached enough to live my life
I urge you to search out the meetings and keep coming back here You are not alone.
Alanon has been a life saver for me in dealing with the affects of Alcoholism. Do you best to be gentle with yourself and trust that those of us in the program here and at meetings can share experience, strength and hope to assist you in finding peace.
Betty suggests it and I second it - seek F2F meetings in your area. There are also meetings here daily - the schedule is up at the top of this forum on the left.
(((Hugs)))

Thanks so much for your kind response. I have checked out the mtg list and plan to go. But my schedule also makes boards like these very valuable in the moment. My brother went to work today and came home tonight. I am grateful. I am also not reactive, which is great. Thank you.
