C2C reading for May 14 speaks about Al-Anon recovery. It points out that this recovery is a discipline that requires diligence, patience and consistency in order to obtain results.
The reading also indicates that regular attendance at Al-Anon meetings, working the steps and applying the Al-Anon principle to every part of the day leads to a fuller and more enjoyable life.
We are reminded that at times we see obvious results from our efforts while at other times we reach plateaus and feel stuck. If we go on putting 1 foot in front of the other and continue to work the program we find that all plateaus come to an end. A door seems to open and we suddenly take leaps forward. We then our efforts were wasted as we were quietly absorbing the program.
Today's reminder states a Turkish proverb; "Patience is the key to Paradise"
I know before program I thought that Impatience was a sign that I was a "go-getter" and forceful. Thank goodness that Al-Anon corrected my thinking and I saw that impatience is actually a defect that hindered my serenity.
There Is another reading in the Courage to Change that states. Patience is acquired by letting go of self-will. The more and more I let go of my own will and humbly turned to HP, I discover I am becoming more and more patient. Thank you Al-Anon once again
I can so relate. I too always believed that impatience served me well. I was the go to girl to get it all done and then some! Exhausting. I have a lot of work to do in regards to boundaries with other people because I have taught them to come to me and I will throw down what I am doing to help you. I no longer want to be the go to girl. Thank you for your post hotrod.
