HI worried mom, I too worried about the same situation and was advised, by my sponsor that I was powerless over people places and things, and asked what did I hope to gain by making the telephone call.

If I thought he was in danger of death and thought that I could call 911 to help then go ahead--- if I was just curious if he was drunk then it was not an action I should take.

I was advised that there is a spiritual principle that states what we need to know will come to us without any effort on our part. It was suggested that the best thing I could do for my son was to pray and get myself to a meeting for support.

This is indeed a painful and difficult road so please keep coming back

I too worried myself sick when I didn't hear from my son.....and yes he was drinking every time. I always thought he would die if I didn't come to his rescue. When I finally let go and prayed and took care of my worries is when things came together for me. My son found his way when he needed help. I would get the call after he was sober in the hospital or not, in jail or not....he would find help without me.

He did learn that mom was not going to come running anymore. Yeah he finally landed in prison for 2 years but it's the best thing that could have happen to him. You know it was always something I wanted to avoid for him but now I think differently.

Keep coming back and try not to worry because it won't do you a bit of good and the A doesn't understand that worry with this disease.

As they say " They are going to drink or their not......what are you going to do"
