I told my therapist yesterday, living with an alcoholic is like going through a hurricane, everything gets torn down and you have to rebuild.Starting with yourself and then other areas in your life,it takes time and it isn't easy. Well I am still here.I have been busy with school,it's midterms again.I finally found a place to live and it is so perfect for me.I actually found a very good friend who is willing to sell me a place on land contract! It has been completely gutted down to the studs, but everything is there to re-do it!So I can really make it mine and put my personality into it!!I am so excited!I won't have to worry about someone taking it from me,it will be mine.Yeah,I am rebuilding my life and things are coming together!Just seven months ago I didn't even have a car or much hope in my life, now the possibilities are endless.
Mary, good analogy. I cannot identify how much was my alcoholism and how much was starting over after leaving an alcoholic partner, as I got sober and left my ex-A at the same time. However, it was totally like you describe. I think the program term is "clearing away the wreckage of the past." It took a couple of years to not have what I felt was glaring wreckage.
That is really awesome, wow!!!
No more mould and evil landladies for you.
I'm excited for you!
