So, my family went over to meet the neighbors last night. Very nice people but lots of beer. My AW only had 1 or 2 glasses of wine so that was pleasant. It's strange how dominant alcohol is in everything we do in this culture. They had a young adult son in his mid 20s and that's all he was doing, pounding down beer after beer. I remember when I used to do that, just keep knocking them back. Now 2 beers on a weekend is more than enough and the more I think about it, maybe even too much.
I am glad that you attended the event and that all went well. I agree alcohol is still one of the important ingredient at most of my my family functions.
Glad things went well for you! Yes, alcohol is a big part of our culture. It's a great social lubricant and widely accepted. Look at all the advertising, portraying life is good...... but what would make it better... Alcohol. Not endorsing this, just saying.
