C2C and ODAT 5-1

The C2C reading for May 1 speaks about thinking that; "if only" certain things would happen we could be happy. It points out that by doing so, we are putting our happiness on hold for things beyond our control.

It suggests that by applying the First Step and admitting that we are powerless over people places and things, we will see that these ," if onlys" are making our lives unmanageable.

The Second Step reminds us that a Power Greater than ourselves can restore us to sanity. When many of us can decide to turn our own lives over to that HP we surrender our victim hood. We are no longer are  waiting for things to change, but are taking an active  role in our own happiness here and now..

The thought for today reminds us that there are many things in my life that we cannot change. What we can changes are our  attitude towards them.

With Al-Anon tools I can learn to accept my life as it is, be grateful and happy here and now with what I have. By making daily gratitude and asset lists, I can readily see and feel this truthful reality. Meetings , living one day at a time , focused on myself and trusting HP , I find my life to filled with courage serenity and wisdom. That's not a bad deal

The quote is from Arthur Rubinstein, "life holds so much--- so much to be happy about always. Most people ask for happiness on conditions. Happiness can only be felt, if you do not set conditions".

In addition ot his idea  The ODAT reading for May 1 focuses on the idea that both Al-Anon and AA are spiritual programs and that an important part of our recovery is that we acknowledge a Power greater than ourselves .

The reading goes on to suggest that by acknowledging the reliance on a power greater than ourselves, we also accept the fact that we need to live by ethical standards of behavior based on a spiritual philosophy and standards.Humility is a powerful outgrowth of doing just that and  Live and let live  and Let Go and Let God becomes second nature to us
