Good morning--I'm new here, altho not new to Alanon. I've been active in an online alcoholism/addiction forum for over 2 years and am endlessly grateful for the ES&H I've been privileged to receive there. Recently the site underwent a revision and now has a very commercial feel to it. There are advertisements for rehab centers, a place to sign up for a weekly newsletter w/"recovery tips and useful resources", and some other changes that make it very uncomfortable to me. Guess I didn't realize just how important those parts of the traditions were where we speak about remaining self-supporting and not endorsing outside facilities, etc.
Anyway, I'm glad to have found this site and look forward to meeting the folks here. I have a question that maybe someone can answer for me: On the other board, I'd been posting the daily reading from "The Language of Letting Go" by Melody Beattie. I enjoyed doing this and it seemed beneficial to other members as well. Would it be allowed for me to do the same here?
Wishing you all a good day today!

In answer to your question about posting s -- We respect copyright requirements on this Board and ask that anyone who wants to post information from literature, that you post a summary or the reading , using your own words .
Currently this is being accomplished by other members using "CAL" such as the C2C, ODAT." How Alanon Works","Hope For Today".
You are welcome to contribute your thoughts and ESH .
On this site I recommend the books "Getting Them Sober" by Toby Rice Drews and "Codependent No More" by Melody Beattie, but like Hotrod said we have to put the readings in our own words or what we got from the materials. I am glad you are here! I look forward to hearing more from you.

Thanks for the welcome, and for the clarification about posting from other printed sources. Good to know the policy here. I'm home from work and will take a more thorough look around here.
Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Hi honeypig, I am on the other site. Welcome to MIP! I hope you love the ESH here and also feel comfortable offering your own ESH because I know you have so much to offer for those in recovery. PS: my username over there is lizatola, LOL!

Welcome! I have Courage to Change, now that my mother in law "doesn't need it anymore". I can say that postings about reflections from the readings are really helpful to me, because I do not necessarily have all the books, but I could certainly use the insight.

Hi, andromeda/lizatola! I wondered if I'd meet anyone I already knew! Thanks for your kind words, and glad to "see" a familiar face here.
