I worry I have passed on the trait of perfectionism to both of my daughters. Since I am raising them alone and see they have taken on some of my traits, it bothers me when they take them to the extreme. I know some of it is them and they have to work through it themselves, but in all the years I lived with my exAH we both pushed my now 17 year old to look and behave perfect in our small town that is a tiny fish bowl. She has straight A's, does her homework without ever needing reminded, cleans house when asked the first time, babysits her sister whenever I need and the only time I ever get any sort of slight attitude is in the early morning especially when I used up the creamer before Church last Sunday! haha! But even then she is way too calm and just rolls with it, she made a smart allecky comment that made me laugh about thanks for leaving me creamer and jumped in the shower. I have the perfect kid and although so many think wow I wish! I worry about her pendulum being so stuck and all she has been through, how do I help her unstick, I had her in counseling, but neither of them she saw thought she needed further meetings after the 3. She isn't playing varsity soccer this year to be able to keep her 4.0 in all her AP honor classes, she wants to be valedictorian of her school. She is a junior, an introvert and a great kid. Honestly I am proud of her and shouldn't complain, because she talks to me when she needs to and will zing back and forth with me and has a great sense of humor, but I know life has been hard and not sure how it is not oozing out of her. Any ESH, besides just be happy she isn't acting out like my 7 year old!

I do understand your concern BF I believe your example of living by principles and the help you have already provided for her is enough for now.
Program tells us we are powerless over others and not to project, so that my only thought is to introduce her to alateen and leave some literature about. When and if she is ready. she wiil know where and how to reach out .
You are a shining example
I think she is lucky to have you and must have absorbed a lot of your al-anon tools by osmosis by now! Well, more or less what Betty said lol. You're a motivated, kind and respectful person, so it isn't shocking to hear that she is too.

Thanks for the feedback and maybe just maybe I am doing enough right with having al-anon the last last 4 years, she is really just a well adjusted kid, eh! I will take it! I have a two hour exam at 10:30 am that isn't even worth point, just a preboards indicator. So back to studying, thanks for the ESH!
