The C2C reading for April 22 speaks about having the courage to search out our defects, our wrongs and our shortcomings, as is discussed in Step four and five.
The reading stresses the importance of truly concentrating on the first three steps before we proceed so that we can develop a spiritual foundation in which to build. While we are doing that,it is important that we make gratitude and asset lists so we can see ourselves in a positive light.
The reading reviews the concepts behind each step. First we look at the areas of our lives and admit that we are powerless over people, places and things .Then in Step two. we accept, and learn that a power greater than ourselves has no limitations and in Step three,we make a decision to trust that power .
These steps are the cornerstone on which our progress will be built and the foundation of our spiritual health.
The quote is from the Dilemma of the Alcoholic Marriage; "I now have a goal that I can see clearly and the program with which to work toward it. . "It is my guide to self-improvement, comforts and , a better way of life."
What a great gift this program is. Using the tools , living one day at a time trusting HP has enriched my life, a hundredfold. I am truly grateful.
This is a very good reminder for me today, there is always work to do within and although I don't want to beat myself up, I do want to ever be changing and growing. God put me where you want me and give me the words. Perfect for me today!

" Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional."
"Serenity is when your body and mind are in the same place."
What a great topic as I am on step 4 right now and attending meetings focusing on Blueprints for Progress (the Al-Anon fourth step manual).
The idea that it is essential to create a solid foundation in the first three steps was profound for me. Having a strong relationship with a Higher Power that I believe takes care of all the details was what it took for me to truly decide to turn over my will, and have faith as I proceed to step 4.
