I am having mixed emotions, mostly sadness. Not sad about the marriage ending but sad for my xah and where he is today. He showed up at court (we filed at the same time: I filed the petition and he signed the acceptance of service) 20 minutes late and reeking of alcohol. He was mean and made snarky comments to me while we were there. It was nice to have the validation that I left for a reason and that I know I won't be going back! It was just sad to see who he's become. He looks awful, has gained weight, and is angry and sullen and my heart breaks for him. Not because he will be my X but because he is a human being who is hurting.
If all goes as planned, the divorce should be final in June. Wow, that is just around the corner. I could use some prayers and good positive vibes today! Thx

Hugs to you Bonnie. It is so hard, i feel for my dry
Ah too. I hope he can grow to become emotionally
sober. He is Someone i loved very deeply for many
years. My heart breaks what havoc this disease can
do to A person and a marriage.
The evidence of what your A's drinking has done is there for when he wants to straighten out his life. Meanwhile you are taking such good care of yourself.
Hugs and support to you Bonnie. It is always difficult to see people we love or have loved hurting. Glad you are taking care of yourself and the mixed emotions are to be expected
Good for you, to have compassion for your ex is a good healthy thing i think. Its up to him now, he has the same power to improve his life as you have.x
Sending you a big hug today. I had a very similar experience - when my AH showed up to court, he looked like a homeless person and even went out to his truck to take a swig as we were waiting for the judge to hear our divorce petition. He was not the man I married anymore. It was very sad, but at the same time, it just made me stronger in the knowledge that I was doing the right thing. He died three weeks after our court appearance from the effects of his drinking. That was 2 years ago. I'm doing well and am moving through, and I wish and hope that for you as well. -GE

That is such a huge hard step, sending good vibes your way!
