Happy Easter to those who color eggs, stay up late making baskets, having the late night sugar rush, and celebrate the holiday in the Christian sense of the word.
Let me just say the weird crazy dreams that I had this early AM. UGH! LOL .. they were very strange and not happy at all that's what I get for eating Easter Candy at 3AM. LOL!
After going to bed early, setting the alarm since my kids are older. My youngest still believes and I'm enjoying the last year of this, I'm sure next year it will be different. I still plan on baskets every year and as long as the kids allow it I will suffer through the hiding of the eggs .. lol .. we do the plastic ones .. lol. I have had the best time with these kids. They have to go to bed earlier!! LOL!!
This year was different than last year. I am sad for them since this year was literally son's birthday on Monday, daughter's birthday on Friday and then Easter today .. not for that deal .. for the fact that their dad didn't call and I know I have whined about this already. It is so very hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that he makes a choice not to call or even text happy birthday. I'm sure it's because I didn't remind him this year. In spite of that my kiddo's have had an awesome week. I swear we have been celebrating their birthday for a month now .. LOL. At least next year I won't have to deal with the holiday all rolled into one.
We have had a great time though and I'm grateful. Watching the kids open their eggs and giggling about different things. They are so much fun .. maybe the reality is I'm more fun.
Instead of cooking dinner this year, we are ordering Chinese. My son is over the moon .. he's way to funny. He has mentioned this MANY times I think we are going to start a family tradition. I spent yesterday rearranging furniture and making our home more of a home. I'm sure once we get settled it will be time to move again .. lol .. different story. I is much better this year and I like it.
When I revisit the last few years this is our second holiday here at this place and the kids have been here, however this is the first year their dad has ignored them so completely on significant days. The sadder fact is the kids are not saying anything about it.
I am focusing on the positive and the positive is we are all together having a great day!! No cooking for me! I like that a LOT and I will continue to figure out what else I'm going to do with the living room and a few other things.
Hugs S :)

Holidays are so much more fun when you get to have fun doing them! Chinese for Easter though, hmm, I will stick to baked ham and mashed potatoes! I used to love hiding the eggs, then kid finds em, then kid hides the eggs and parent finds them - was always fun.. Now that its just adults in the house I just buy some candy we both like, bake a ham and enjoy the day.
Happy Easter to you and to all my MIP family!

Back at you Serenity. We aren't Christian but Happy Easter anyway! I agree, I am more fun these days and carving out my own new traditions with my daughter is awesome. I think she is happy to see me engaged and happy instead of just going through the motions as I did for years. I feel a lot more like celebrating occasions without a grumpy A soaking everything in misery and resentment I must say.
Chinese sounds like an excellent family tradition to me!
