Son released from prison this past Saturday.

I am amazed, some of you already know what I went through with my son just a few years ago, and if not, I won't go into it now, but I will say he got discharged from prison after 22 months, on Saturday.   We worked together today on a paint job, spent time talking, mending our wounds and allowing healing to take place for both of us. We are going to be working together for the next few months now! When God wants a thing done, it gets done, and I can't imagine God would have it any other way than the way it is.

If you have a adult child caught in the mere of addiction and/or alcoholism, just trust God to handle things... don't interfere with their consequences, it might be the bottom they need to start seeking a better way of life, that you are interfering with.  Let Go, and Let God.

The great thing about recovery is learning to accept life and people just as they are. No grudges, being able to be with your son and enjoy the moment is a gift i enjoy too. The past is over, the future doesnt matter, all we have is this day. This has allowed me to just be in the day, taking the precious gems of that day and not worrying about when it ends or what happened before. Unconditional love might be this.x

Hi John~I too have an adult son. Although he is not active, he should be in program. He is not. He has a physical disablility but could do more than he is doing. I rescue him financially at times so his electricity won't be turned off. If he were alone, that might be different, but he has a wife who works and also a 4 yr old daughter. I find myself re-thinking my finances often and when to help and when not to. It is an on-going dilemma for me. I have broken codependency with my A but I don't think I have yet with him. More work for me to do, yes? Lyne

"don't interfere with their consequences",

This is the first commitment of a recovering enabler...Learn how to and then don't ever interfere with their consequences.   "Get out of God's way"

Mahalo John...prayers and fine wishes to both of you.   (((hugs))) smile

I think the hardest part is remembering that he will either move forward, embrace sobriety and a relationship with his dad, or he won't and we don't get to do anything to make him do what we want him to do!

Love the chocolate room! Love that dark brown and white look.

I'm happy that the boy is finally out. My son will spend the same amount of time as your son did. Let's just pray he will do the next right thing with your help getting him started on the right path.

Prayers for your son and you

((( hugs )))
