Leo,

Sorry for the delay... I finally read your question about the Seven Weeks to Sobriety program.

The book is by Joan Mathews-Larson and explains how she began to search for a new rehabilitation program after her son had gone through so many failing attempts and tried to kill himself.  This hits so close to home with my A and me because he was heading in this direction too.

The author advises that the program is done under the care of a physician because it essentially puts the alcoholic straight into detox.  My A did the program from home and always had someone with him to be sure he was ok; he also has a medical doctor and a psychologist who he keeps in close touch with.  (there is also a facility in Minnesota where this program originated, but it costs $$$$$$$!)

The cost involved is for the supplement program that is determined by a survey/questionnaire that determines body chemistry type.  The vitamins, minerals and other supplements replace what is being lost in the detox and also replace what has been lost from the alcoholic's body for so long.  They help get the body back into balance while keeping refined sugars and wheat products out of the blood.  Refined sugars are a manufactured product that does not come naturally - our bodies can't process them efficiently and an alcoholic comes to depend on them just to survive.  It's truly an amazing look into the physiology of physical addiction.

I would suggest looking for this book in your local bookstore or library.  If you can't find it there, I bought mine from amazon.com.  I wish you all the best, hopefully this helps!
