Feeling worn out

My adult daughter A voluntarily checked herself into detox on Monday.  The last couple of days have been kind of tough with the physical aspects of detox.  Anyway she wants to stay a couple more days and her psychiatrist thinks she should be out of there tomorrow and into a 28 day rehab facility.  Unfortunately they do not agree on this. I just feel so worn out with all of this.  I know I can't, shouldn't and won't make any of these decisions.  I just want her to know I love her and want the best for her.  Had I not gone to see her tonight I wouldn't know any of this. I would have come home and had a nice dinner.  Instead I visited her, felt bad when I left and am no longer hungry.

Some days I just want to go to sleep and keep on sleeping.  But I have to get up every day and go to work.  My job is hard, stressful and long days.

Do you ever feel like this?

My ex is a recovered A.  I have been living with other people's alcholism for 38 years.  He only helps when it is convenient for him.  He took the "take care of yourself" for its word.  Both of my children are affected by it.  My son quit drinking, but drank heavily and got a DUI.  He doesn't have time for any of us.

Hang in there MFran! All you can do is take care of you and if you want to visit your daughter go for it but don't feel guilty if you don't go often. I leave my A Dad's feeling sad everytime. Sometimes I'm just not up for feeling that way. But not feeling guilty about not seeing a person you love is eaiser said than done. I've yet to master that. I feel guilty even if I go a day w/o talking to my dad. lots -o- hugs
