miss independent

today was a very difficult day.i had to go grocery shopping for the first time on my own. after proscastinating all day i decided to go. i actually did my makeup and hair too and looked and felt great. so i went and got my shopping done with a few hurdles. i couldnt reach some stuff off the top shelves but managed on my very tippy toes. i had to pack up my own groceries into the cart. (a usually does that) i caught a cab home and carried all my groceries to the top of my building where i live by myself. so i did it and im still alive. lol. i do feel abit sad as i loved grocery shopping with my a. planning what we would have for supper together. im not a master chef so im now living off of tv dinners and stuff from a can. but im thankful that i can afford the food in the first place and that im not starving. and i figured out my pay cheques for the month and i will be just fine. i will be able to support myself at least for this month without having to take money off the credit card. i feel a little more secure now. my a called today asking if i wanted him to come today and get his stuff and i said i didnt want to deal with that today. i dont want to get upset again as i feel im making a little progress. im seeing now i may turn out to be ok

Great for you!!!  It was good that you did that for yourself today, including getting yourself "dressed" for the occasion (a little hair and makeup goes a long way, as my grandmother used to say)...maybe a good way to take care of you since you like to cook and plan is to take a cooking class....(just a suggestion)...good for you notsonew!!!  Congrats!

Hello nsns,

Of course you will be okay! Your are a very strong woman and one who is growing by leaps and bounds! Congraulations on that grocery shopping too. Before you know it, you will be putting together great meals for yourself! Way to work your program and take care of you, Miss Independent :) My son is enjoying his new independence too since the break up with his girlfriend of 5 years. It took him awhile but now that he has settled in he says he is going to wait to date since he really likes his new found freedom.  He is 24. HMMM, I think you would make a great daughter-in-law! But then, I am not your HP LOL. Keep up the good work! cdb (((((((((nsn)))))))) xoxoxoxoxoxo

I relate so much. It will get easier in time. But I tell ya, for me it is like a wave. Sometimes
I am ok, then I find myself sad and miss my marriage so much.

You sound really positive and good. Hey there are a lot of good frozen meals now.
Green giant has vegies with chicken in them. Ya just throw them in the microwave or
a pan.

I also get frozen chicken breast as they are easy to cook up.

I understand how seeing him hurts. I always pack up the A's stuff for him.

Proud of you. Remember how this feels when tough times come again. Even when
they do, know you will feel better again and it is temporary.

Hope you do some nice things for you. love, debilyn

hugs to u sweetheart!

I live in a 2 story condo & it is upstairs, so going grocery shopping, is a lot of excersize just carrrying everything up & in.  I tend to buy in bulk too, so it's never just a small deal w/ me.

I'm proud of you for telling your A no, even just for the night, small boundaries like that really make u feel like u are gaining control of your life because ~ you are!

Good for you for putting on your make up & fixing that hair ~ I was in the beauty industry for 17 years.  Lots of times I bum around & never put onmake up but when you catch a glimpse of yourself & you're looking so good, it does make you feel good.  I have often told clients that too, say uhave to deliever some "bad news" ~ when it's coming from a 'more beautiful face' it takes some of the burn out of it.  As much as I hate to admit it (to myself, heh) when you look good, it does make you feel better.

Good for you!

love, -K
