HELP YOURSELF NOW

Dont wait to seek help. Anyone who has suffered from the effects of someone elses drinking faces constant emotional strains and pressures, and needs help in releiving these. You will find relief, understanding, support, and warmhearted help in an alanon family group. There you will, as one member put it "Learn to Live again"

The alanon family groups , alanon and alateen, are wives, husbands, parents, partners, children and other relatives and friends of alcoholics. With nearly 28,000 groups worldwide, there may be one close by. The members are compassionate, well informed, and have first had knowledge of problems like yours, because they have had them too!

Alanon may be listed in your telephone directory, if not call AA, the local alcoholism information services, or our toll free number.

Dont hesitate to attend because you feel your a stranger: anyone who feels his or her life may have been affected by someone else's drinking is welcome.

Talk to members before and after the meeting, discuss your difficulties with the members there.Conversations with alanon members who share similiar problems will help you accept that alcoholism is a disease, not a sin. Sharing this knowledge can help you begin your own recovery.....This will be your road back to sanity.....................you are worth it!............gardengal

((((( GG )))))   What  nice post!

The only thing I can add other than I too felt completely insane b4 I came to al-anon & thought other ppl's problems were my fault & believed it when they told me it was my fault & I was a worthless hunk of junk...  working the steps has brought me serenity, coping skills, the ability to trust myself & discern the truth & the ability to understand what it means love myself.

The 3 C's of Al-Anon immediately shifted my thinking & gave me hope:  I did not cause it, I cannot control it & I cannopt cure it.

I think this # works: 1-800-4-al-anon

I found immediate help, relief & understanding going into the chat room here sharing, venting & coming to the on-line meetings...  M-F 9a/9p EST, Sat 10a/9p EST, Sun 10a/7p EST.   www.mipchat.net

Thanks again, your sis in recovery, -Kitty of Light

I'd also say that slowing down helped me a lot.  I felt an urge to try to fix everything and force action a lot. The more I slowed down and took care of me the calmer I became and the better I was able to focus on what I could do rather than be frustrated over what I could not do.
