Letting Go

I got this from another Al-anon group that I belong to and many people on the chat tonight asked me to post it here.  It really has helped me put things in perspective!

To Let Go doesn't mean to stop caring - it means I can't do it for someone
else.

To Let Go is not to cut myself off - it's the realisation that I can't
control another

To Let Go is not to enable - but to allow learning from natural consequences

To Let Go is to admit powerlessness - which means the outcome is not in my
hands

To Let Go is not to try to change or blame another - I can only change
myself

To Let Go is not to care for - but to care about

To Let Go is not to fix - but to be supportive

To Let Go is not to judge - but to allow another to be a human being

To Let Go is not to be in the middle arranging all the outcomes - but to
allow others to affect their own outcomes

To Let Go is not to be protective - it is to permit another to face reality

To Let Go is not to deny - but to accept

To Let Go is not to nag, scold or argue - but to search out my own
shorcomings and correct them

To Let Go is not to adjust everything to my desires - but to take each day
as it comes and cherish the moment.

To Let Go is not to criticise and regulate any more - but to try to become
what dream I can be

To Let Go is not to regret the past - but to grow and live for the future

To Let Go is to fear less and love more.

Thank you Amy,

Awesome post! It sure tells it like it is. Right to the point and easy to understand. I remember reading this before but now, I interpret things so much more maturely with the growth I now have in the program. Thanks again for posting this amy. your friend in recovery, cdb :)

What a wonderful first post to share on our board.   I surrender all the time, am grateful that I can control, change & cure myself & loving msyelf is all I have to do this moment.

I thank God for allowing me to detach from others & love them compassionately and to begin to learn how to love myself for the divine, blessed, sensitive & giving creature I am.  I know that I am nothing w/out God, for it is HP that moves in me.  I want to continue to grow & am open to the infinite possibilities of the Universe.

Thanks for this post....

love, -K

Thankyou Amy how very kind of you to share that. The days I can do the letting go the more sane I am and the more I approach serenity. I cannot be there every day.  I do make an effort to stay more in the  middle these days.

Maresie.
