resigned from work yesterday.

Hi,  It's great to be back my computer was in the repair shop for almost 2 weeks.  I resigned from my longterm job yesterday, and will be working at my part time job-full time starting in two weeks.  I was under payed and really being taken advantage of for way too long. I made a well thought out decision to resign. My a is really standing behind me.  I guess he has little choice since he hasn't work in 3 weeks. It was scary but needed to be done.  Alot has been going on, our landlady raised our rent another $75 effective March 1,which really has me stressed.  She told me a few weeks ago in not so many words that she feels sorry for me and that she's aware that the bulk of the finances are on me.  I am not looking for pity, just fairness.  We pay our own heat and hot water. And the building is ancient, so much of the heat goes right out the windows (which are covered in plastic!)  I dropped a quick e-mail about this to a woman who I've become attatched to in the f to f that I go to on Wednesdays.  She told me to just over look it- which is fine and that's exactly what I am trying to do.  She annoyed me when she corrected me on the spelling of a word. I thought that was unnessary,  I am not the greatest typer.  I am in pms  mode(I am extremly sensitive anyway) as it is I did not need someone to correct me as if I am a six year old.  Lil

Lil, as a former landlord/owner I'm curious about one thing... the windows covered with plastic, do you mean there is no glass in the windows?  That they are simply covered with plastic?  I ask because I know in our state here, it is a legal obligation/duty for owners/landlords to keep their property maintained.  A broken window is one of the things that must be fixed right away.  Something to do with health and safety.  After all, the tenant is paying for the right to have a home that meets health/safety requirements.  Also in my state here (California), rent cannot be increased without a 60 day notice first (it used to be 30 day notice).  Just some things you might want to check out for your own information.  I always encouraged my renters to be familiar with landlord/tenant law.  I would refer them to www.nolo.com where you can research state laws.  I sure learned a lot during the time we owned those apartments... the main thing being, just because we owned them didn't mean we could ignore landlord/tenant laws and do as we wished!  We truly couldn't afford any lawsuits!  Best wishes to you in your decision to go full-time at the part-time job!  Hope it works out great for you!

Liliana: My landlord put our rent up $75.00 too. When I objected he gave me a 60 day notice which is illegal.  The A is supposed to deal with the landlord about our heat. He never got around to it. His name should be he never got around to it because he never gets around to anything ever.  He always puts it off. I guess the most important thing for him is to use.  He spent all day Friday doing that.

I told the A this year that I will not be able to help him out financially in the same way I did before. He was ill last year and I helped out tremendously in the finance department completely draining our savings. I have made it really clear I cannot do that this year.  He will have to find other ways to finance his doping. When I saw him smoking dope on Friday I was furious but said nothing. He is in a bad way financially between jobs and the most important thing is to smoke dope.  He does not have cereal (he needs cereal in the mornings) but he can buy dope!

I said nothing.  I am at home now between jobs and still holding up my financial obligations to the household. I go without a lot to pay my share of the bills. What does he go without? Not much.

I have been very dependent on my A for many reasons.  My ptsd is very bad.  At night I really suffer a lot of flashbacks then I am exhausted the next day. I also have my own severe health issues.  Does he help me with them - not much.  I have to say he has never really helped me much.  He is not sympathetic to me and my issues but I am supposed to be incredibly sympathetic to him. I just had to stop and focus on me.
