Thank you all for your continued support. The outpouring of of care and concern was overwhelming and I think you from the bottom of my heart. I though hard on many of your posts and that my ability to be there for my Dad starts with me being in the right state of mind.
Today my Dad stopped by my job to tell me that he recieved the biopsy results and that the cancer is not in his prostate. It is somewhere, but noin his bones, or anywhere else detectable by CAT scan or bone scan. Good news. Basically the doctor is saying that they are chasing a blood test and he was concerned that he wouldn't have the biopsy results in time for his appointment at Sloan tomorrow. He had them in time and they were faxed over (thank you HP). They are going to start him on hormone therapy asap. The good news is that this is a slow growing cancer, it has been what seems to be caught early and that my Dad has a very positive outlook. I will only be positive with him.
Rather than be upset with my parents for keeping this from me (and my sisters) for six weeks, I took it as an opportunity to tell them that we love them, we are no longer children (we are 35, 30 and 28 respectively) and that we want to be a family when things like this happen. I used to get upset and angry when things like that happened. Now I take the opposite tact and it feels good.
Putting the tools in place I have learned has helped me better cope with a bad situation. I feel good about that.
I'm very glad to hear things are better than they could have been. Caught early is good, slow growing is good, not in the bones is good. All good news!
It can be hard and scarey to stay positive at times like these, but I honestly believe a positive outlook does much for ones recovery. Both yours and your Dads :)
Keep trusting God, what we can't do.......He can.

Great news about your Dad, and even better news about the whole way you handled the whole thing with your parents.... Really nice to see the program at work, in such a real, and positive way!
