I am tired!

Hi, I am new!!! I am so tired the last 3-4 years dealing with my youngest daughters Heroin addiction. She has been clean for almost a year and I can see her coming back to some extent to the child I had before drugs but honestly I still worry! I am so bone dead tired sometimes it scares me!

I am trying to make myself a new life since I have decided to change me. So far so good. I have gone back into my old creative self and have kept myself busy. I have removed several people from my life that were wearing thin on me. My husband and I are actually having a good time together now that drugs are not the normal topic at dinner each nite. My oldest daughter has become a good friend to me now that I am not hysterical all the time! I am putting my life back in some order.  I have done a lot of changing and some of it was hard but crazy thing is I am still exhausted. Will it ever end?

I hope to talk to someone to find out if the exhaustion is normal or just some weird personality thing I am going thru.

Welcome here, and I hope you find a lot of strength on this site.... Over time, as you work YOUR recovery program, in Al-Anon and other support programs, you will see improvement.... You cannot control whether or not your daughter uses again or not, of course, but you CAN control how much time you are focussing on yourself, and your need for health and serenity.

Take care

Tom

Hi KS,

There are quite a few people who are living what you have been dealing with regarding your daughter. I am sure they will post and offer you encouragement.  From me big hugs and welcome.  Luv Leo x

((((((((((((Welcome hugs Katie)))))))))))))))))),

Congratulations on "progress not perfection"  Good for you!  Have you considered getting a physical.  It's so easy to neglect ourselves by not going to doctor/dentist, etc.  Get a thorough check up to rule out any other things that may be affecting your exhaustion.  I find exercise and eating well (which takes time to prepare) make such a huge difference in my energy level.  Also, when I get outside and take a walk etc, it helps my emotional and spiritual well being too.  Amazing what a 20 minute saunter will do for you.

We are glad you found us,

There is nothing more exhausting than that which rips at our body and our soul. That "bone tiredness" you are experiencing is quite normal. Keep up the working on you, and keep the relationship with your husband positive. You'll make it.

Best of luck and good wishes, Diva
