Coming up 4 Air? - NOT

Hey group,

May I vent?

Some of ya know I moved f/ a 2 to a 1 bed on Dec. 1.  Everything that could go wrong, has and I have a lovely mix of that funky smoke smell coming thru heat vent everynight now permeating clothes furniture, etc.  This morning, I woke to find the toliet, and bathtub backed up & flooded into the dining room w/ crap backed up f/ the sewer line outside.  They had to move the furniture & pull up the carpet pad into my tiny living room.  The storage door, disposal, icemaker, mail key, closet rod, and was broken.  They had my handicap spot in the wrong space & I had to throw a fit to get it moved.  The apartment was dirty when I moved in (I cleaned my old one).  In the middle of all this, the serpentine belt broke on the car & the alternator froze up.  So the guy at the car shop lost the key to the car.  (Fortunately not the ignition key, he lost the key that unlocks the doors & the trunk which would've helped during the move).  Anyway, I know I'm suppossed to learn something, but I hate it.  I just signed a year lease, and I'm miserable, mostly the smoke smell is causing nauseau, headaches, coughing & a sore throat.

AAAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHH

What to do?  How to deal?  I've worn the serenity prayer out, apply one day at a time, asked God for my lesson so I can hurry up & learn it & stop the learning.  My daughter & her friend -boy are coming next week.  I'm afraid to see what's next.  I'm broke and very frustrated.

Any ESH?

Help?

I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

trying to come up for air,

Cedarpines

I was wondering how you were and hoping all was well.
Sorry to hear the move has been rough. Do you know it is one of the top ten things we go thru in life that are a major cause of stress? Please go easy.
Maybe be aggressive w/ finding the cause and a possible solution w/ the smoke situation? Have your dr write a note and pass it along certified return receipt to your landlord?
Thank you for sharing and keep us posted when possible.
Please take care,Wishes,
tea

Hi cedarpines

(((cedarpines)))

I relate to the move problems.

2 years ago december I sold our house and we moved to a rental house close to my job.

It should have been a nice rental house as it was alot of money.

Within a week the crap hit the fan, literally.

I could not take a shower. when I did the crap backed up from the septic system into the downstairs family room.

I was afraid to tell my 24/7 binging husband.

I took showers at work.

Finally he saw it, threw a huge fit and called the landlord and got it fixed.

Also then the heat broke and a team of people were there for 5 hours fixing the furnace.

This is tough stuff on your plate.

I survived it ODAT, sometimes one minute at a time

Stay strong

In support

(((((((((((Cedar)))))))))))))),

I am not sure what state you are in but there are laws regarding sewage and handicap spaces, etc.  In my state with have a state Commission Against Discrimation which assists (free) for those being taken advantage of.  I am wondering if your state does.  With all of that going on, I think you could break that lease due to their incompetence to say nothing of breaking the laws.

Not knowing your specific situation, I am cautious about advising you.  If your landlord is reasonable, you may want to "suggest" he/she get everything taken care of and replace your things asap.  If you know he/she is not, give Commission Against Discrimination a call.

Let us know how you are doing.

Love Maria

Cedarpines! It is sooooo good to see you xoxoxo ((((smoochies)))) AS I read your post, my mouth was wide open from shock! I bet you qualify for the American Disability Act. Each state has agencies to help the disabled,,,,if I qualify,,so do you.  Find out where to get in touch with an agency for the disabled. They provide free attorneys and I am sure they will not be happy with that smoke situation! Keep us updated. cdb

Thanks for your input group!  You all are right - I know there are things I'm powerless over, but I don't want to be a victim.  I've given myself a couple of days to think about the facts.  My plan (HP willing) is to contact the Housing Authority and the manager with the facts after I take out what emotions I can.  I also know I'm suppossed to learn to take up for myself which I didn't do growing up.  Some things have been fixed since I posted - icemaker, disaposal, storage door.  After I felt like I made a fool of myself in the office, they moved my handicap space - I still need a painted space in the parking lot.  Right now - my house is in chaos, because they moved the furniture around to pull up the carpet pad etc.  My daughter & her friend boy are coming this weekend & I just wanted some semblance of order - is that too much to ask.  I think working plumbing & clean air through the vents are important.  I'm in the same complex as before, but in a 1 bedroom because it was cheaper.  By the time I add up all the pet dep., moving co., replacement costs from the flooding, etc.  It may not be any cheaper.  I have trouble making decisions anyway, now I'm wishing I'd stayed in the 2 bedroom.  Beating myself up is wasted energy too.

Well, thanks for letting me vent here so I won't explode too much with the office people and please keep me in your prayers.  Thank you all you sweet people for your support !!!!

I keep getting booted from chat/meetings, but I'll get back in there & see you guys.

Love to you all xxxxxxoooooooooo
